Don Sullivan training techniques? ?

What do you think about the training methods of Don Sullivan? Personally, I find very terrible to see and know that I never use, nor recommend it to anyone. When looking at the music and hearing how they can train the perfect dog, you think he goes, this seems something worth buying. But when I borrowed my aunts DVD, I was horrified. He wears a spiked collar modified (basically metal spikes are replaced with hard rubber) and negative training methods. Instead of teaching the dog an alternative behavior, or there is a better result in negative behaviors do, teach that the behavior ends in a harsh punishment, eventually scaring the dogs to avoid the behavior. I disagree with him at all and I am horrified that he does not account each and every one of positive reinforcement. Being my opinion, what is yours?

I have only seen a brief moment of technical training, but that was enough to know that aspires to training and I would never use anything that teaches
